Montreal police (SPVM) have uncovered a major cocaine trafficking operation spanning multiple West Island communities, seizing 27 kilograms of cocaine and several firearms.
The Anti-Gang Section of the SPVM executed search warrants across Kirkland, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Beaconsfield, and Lachine. The operation included a seizure of cocaine with a street value exceeding $500,000.
Two men were arrested during the operation. Mohammed Omar Faruque and Fahad Ibne Faruque Ghazi face charges of weapons possession and drug trafficking. Authorities discovered an AR-15 rifle, two pistols, and specialized ammunition during their searches.
The police operation resulted in the seizure of additional contraband including crystal methamphetamine and $120,000 in cash, indicating an extensive drug distribution network operating throughout the West Island.
Faruque, who has previous convictions for fraud and drug trafficking, faces an additional charge of violating a court order. Ghazi has no prior criminal record.
The coordinated raids conducted across multiple West Island municipalities resulted from an investigation by the SPVM’s Anti-Gang Section. Authorities continue to investigate possible connections to other drug trafficking operations in the Greater Montreal Area.
