MARKETING AND OUTREACH COORDINATOR

QCNA Media Internship

Join an established Association that represents more than 30 minority-language community newspaper across Quebec. The Quebec Community Newspapers Association (QCNA) is dedicated to the professional and economic development of English community newspapers and their enterprises serving minority communities in Quebec. QCNA is recognized as the official representative of Quebec’s official language community newspapers by the federal and provincial governments, the public, and by Quebec’s community press.

The Quebec Community Newspapers Association provides advocacy, government representation, marketing and promotion for Quebec community newspapers and, among other things, highlights newspaper challenges in official language markets and provides possible solutions and establishes partnerships that will benefit members and the association.

We are seeking a Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for a paid full-time position through the 2024-2025 Internship Program in Official Languages Minority Community Media. The duration of the position is 6 months minimum with the possibility for extension to March 31 st , 2026. Rate of pay is $23/hr for 30 or 35 hours per week. The position is located in Gatineau, QC, but a hybrid work schedule is available.

You must…
• Hold a diploma or degree from a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution.
• Be 35 years old or younger on the start date of the internship.
• Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
• Be unemployed or underemployed.
• Provide an up-to-date resume.
• Provide photo identification issued by a provincial or federal government authority.
• (Upon request only) Provide proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residence.

Responsibilities include:

• Articulate and present the offerings of our member newspapers to clients and partners.
• Identify client needs to develop and execute account plans and custom client solutions that differentiate community media from our competitors.
• Oversee all billing and invoicing.
• Develop long-term relationships with clients and partners.
• Prep, launch and oversee the annual Better Newspaper Competition.
• Support the association at the annual Awards Gala and AGM.
• Support the team at live and online events such as webinars.
• Responsible for updating website and collaborating with web developer to increase the use and value of the QCNA website.
• Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns.
• Generally support the Executive Director and Program Manager in QCNA activities.

• Customer service skills.
• Experience with creating/planning/supporting projects and events.
• An interest and/or experience working with minority communities is a plus.
• Demonstrated mastery of the English language (written and spoken) and the ability to communicate in French (written and spoken).
• Self-starter who is comfortable connecting with the team to ensure the appropriate course of action is taken.
