A 56-year-old man has been arrested following complaints about a “creep” approaching underage girls in Côte des Neiges—Notre Dame de Grâce and asking them if they were interested in modeling.
On January 26, the man allegedly approached a 15-year-old girl at the intersection of Monkland and Grand, presenting himself as a photographer and giving the girl an amateurish-looking business card. The girl reported the encounter to Montreal Police, who according to the mother, said they knew the suspect and an arrest was made. On a local social media page, someone wrote that they experienced a similar incident with the same individual in 2017.
Lachine resident Olivier Lagacé appeared in court on March 8 and was released, scheduled to re-appear on May 24 to face an order to “keep the peace and be of good behaviour for a period of 12 months.” Such a measure can be imposed when the court believes a person is likely to commit an offense against a minor under section 423.1 of the Criminal Code (which includes persistently following someone; wrongfully compelling another person to do anything they have a right to abstain from; besets or watches the place where a person resides or happens to be; etc.)
